HOW TO HAVE A NOTE PLACED ON THE NOTICEBOARD

Due to the prolonged period of dry weather and the increased risk of fire, we are temporarily suspending all bonfires on Colchester City Council allotment sites with immediate effect.
The current dry conditions mean that fires could spread quickly to neighbouring plots, vegetation, sheds, fencing and surrounding land, creating a significant risk to both people and property.
We appreciate that bonfires are often used to dispose of garden waste; however, during this period we ask that plot holders either compost suitable material or store waste safely until weather conditions improve and the restriction can be lifted.
We will keep the situation under review and will notify tenants when bonfires are permitted again.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping to keep our allotment sites safe.
Yours sincerely
